Wii Disc Failure March 15, 2010 E. Batko (Texas) Bought the unit Christmas last year. Family has played it maybe 20-30 hours and now disc failure.
Ta Da! In to the shop for repairs. The cost is not outrageous just disappointed that for $500.00 bucks in unit and games
and accessories this is the disc life on this one.
I know it's an inexpensive console but we're not talking Xbox 360 either. Just a simple format player.
I'm just saying...
Nothing good after the n64 era March 14, 2010 Schadstoffsöldner Very few Wii games are good. If you look at the statistics, the vast majority of Wii games are in fact of very poor standard. The only bearable titles are Mario, Zelda, and Metroid. The only game I was addicted to was Mario Kart Wii. Also, the system doesn't support DVD moves. The hardware is also very weak; I'd be surprised if it is even 10% better than the GCN. The controllers use AA batteries and you can't charge them by connecting them to the system.
Not sure what else there is to say.; What game system to buy? March 14, 2010 carolyn (Canal Winchester, OH) If you're looking for advice on a gaming system, I'll tell you what a teenager told us. If you're looking to buy for a younger child, say over 5 but younger than 14, then get the Wii. But, if you're buying for a teenager, then they're looking into the Xbox. So, there you have it, from the lips of a teen. So, off we went to get the Wii since we old folks could work out with it as well. It has been the best investment! We can use it with the Wii Sports, and the kids get to have a blast with it with the games. It's so easy to use, the setup is easy (an 8-year-old did ours), and well, it's just been a marvelous addition to the gametime in this house. A word of caution, however, be SURE you read the directions. There are warnings enclosed that state things like "Don't play longer than 45 minutes at a time." The Wii can cause seizures in people so be sure you pay attention to that stuff. Other than that, it's great. Highly recommend!
only if you are 7 years old March 14, 2010 sun lover 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
The Nintedo Wii is not a terrible product, but it is nothing special. The vast majority of the games are made for people under the age of 7. This is not bad if you are looking for a family console but it only does just that. When we got our wii several of the games we got with it didn't work well, not that the games were broken but they were unresponsive even after we adjusted the receiver. It is very hard to play shooter games because of the way the controls are made, like in Call of Duty: World at War, you have to press down B and twist counter-clockwise to throw a fragment grenade. Because you are twisting it is impossible to aim and therefore nearly impossible to use (Whenever I try the grenade ends up blowing my squad to pieces). It is also harder to snipe than on other consoles. Half the time in the middle of an online match you will move to try and find your enemy and it will spazz out for 3-6 seconds, enough time to get shot. If you are going to play shooter games get something else (I play MOH on my gamecube more). Mario Cart however is good. it is great for parties and fun to play contact racing where you can push the person sitting next to you. Sometimes the controller wants you to go another way and no matter how you turn you will go straight into a wall. Wii play is also pretty fun, but I only play tanks, cow racing, target practice, and the fishing game. Im am actually saving to buy an xbox 360 because of better games and graphics. If Your looking for young person/entire family entertainment look no further, but if you want to play shooter games, get an xbox or ps3.
Awsome product March 13, 2010 C. A. Perna (TROY, MI, US) Easy to connect to the T.V. Lots of hours of entertainment. Makes for a fun afternoon. I would recommend buying.
