    2 out of 5 stars Xbox 360 Memory Cards   July 16, 2010
    Michael Pelegrin (WI)
All Xbox 360 memory cards are now outdated since the Xbox Live update in March. You can now use USB flash drives (up to 16gb) to store data. I spent 30 dollars on a 512 mb card one month before the update came out. What a disappointment.

4 out of 5 stars Overpriced, but good for what it is   July 5, 2010

Yes, it's overpriced. What did you expect from a company that disabled support for third-party memory cards?

Once you get past the price, the product itself isn't too bad. It comes pre-loaded with the full version of Worms, an Xbox Live Arcade game similar to Pocket Tanks. At 512MB, you'll have enough room for your profile, an Arcade game or two, and about a dozen game saves. It also comes with a protective case that has a small hole you could string a keychain through.

Now that the Xbox can accept flash drives up to 16GB, this is not the best option for most people. If your USB ports are already used up (by wired controllers, cooling accessories, or whatever), this is a decent option, as it loads a little quicker in my experience, but you could just as easily buy a multi-port USB hub.

And last, but not least, I'm reading that the new Xbox 360 (the so-called "slim" model) does NOT have slots for these memory cards.

    3 out of 5 stars I feel a little ripped off...   May 3, 2010
    Mark Ewing (Bowling Green, OH)
I bought this so I could easily transfer my gamertag to a friend's place so I could get achievements while playing co-op with him (I'm cheap and I don't always want to buy a game to play over Live). I just found out though (granted, a while after I bought it) that Microsoft has enabled support for USB flash drives in the USB ports on the front of the Xbox (up to 16gb) and given that I have dozens (seriously) of 1Gb flash drives lying around doing nothing I could have saved a Jackson or so and gotten twice as much storage for free.

Granted, mine did come with a copy of Worms on it, but I'm not a huge Worms fan so it was kind of a pointless bonus for me.

1 out of 5 stars 512MB memory units are now worthless   April 15, 2010

I originally purchased this MU because I have multiple Xboxes and was tired of having to recover my profile every time I changed rooms. It was a poor product to begin with because of the 512MB limit and the restrictions that caused third-party MUs to not work. With the latest update to the Xbox dashboard it is an even worse option. You can now use USB thumb drives (limited to 16GB) instead of memory cards. This is a much better option for a few reasons:

    1. At the 16GB limit, you have 32 times as much space to save data to.
    2. You probably already have a thumb drive sitting around that is larger than 512MB.
    3. If you don't have a large thumb drive around, they are much cheaper per MB than the proprietary card.
    4. When schizophrenic MS decides to disable support for thumb drives (or enables external HDs), you will still have a thumb drive that is useful for other things.

Skip this and use a thumb drive.

    3 out of 5 stars Useful   February 6, 2010

Considering that they are not producing them for much longer I would pick one up. If you have a hard drive that saves your profile you will need one to port your profile to a friends xbox so you can play with your stats on their machine.
