Product Description This sturdy MIDI interface cable is self-powered and connects to your computer's USB port. No need for tools or computer disassembly, it's the simplest & most convenient way to connect a keyboard or controller to a computer. Gives you the power to play songs on your keyboard or other controller, then mix and edit them on your home computer/laptop with any sequencing or recording software you have installed & play them back on the built-in synth or an any out-board synth!

The Goods and The Bads July 29, 2010 Damon I bought this midi cable a while ago and needed some time to fully test it and to right a beneficial review. It does what is suppose to do as i bought it obviously to record with midi.
The Goods:
1.plug and play with windows 7
2.easy to connect
3.it have a light to show you when a keyboard is pressed
The Bads:
1.it doesn't have a manual, so i needed to read a little bit about midi cable since this is the first one i use.
( MAIN ISSUE : you need to insert the IN ending into out opening of the keyboard and OUT ending in the in opening ).
that is the only bad thing ,other than that it is worthy buying equipment.
Did not work for me either ... July 22, 2010 Edward Johnston I am mystified at the wide discrepancy between those who claim this product works perfectly and those who say it does not work properly.
I tried a similar generic version sold on eBay, with 3 different computers, runing WinXP and Vista and 2 different keyboards, including an M-Audio that can send signals both directly via USB or Midi cable (the direct USB works fine), with 2 different software programs (Mixcraft and Reason) and I get exactly the same malfunction with the generic USB-MIdi converter: keydown, nothing, key release, the note is sounded and remains sustained until another key is depressed, which ends the sustain but the new note is not generated until new the key is released, and so on. Basically, key-down and key-release appear to be switched around by the converter.
My impression is that the firmware in the microcontroller inside the device is re-processing the Midi codes and sending out the wrong codes via the USB, key-release when it should be key-down and viceversa. Why it works for some people, is a mystery. Maybe there are some versions that contain a firmware update that corrects the problem, I'm just guessing.
Mine has an unmarked 18-pin chip that might be a PIC microcontroller, maybe an 18F??
Maybe some adventurous hacker out there could un-solder the chip and plug it into a programmer to read the code (if the code-protect bit is not set) and find the bug which can then be corrected by re-progamming the PIC ( a lot of work to fix a $6 item).
Doesn't Work On 64-bit Win 7 July 22, 2010 frankp93 (Danbury, Connecticut United States) Unlike another reviewer, I actually did notice the fine print that says "32-bit". But I mistakenly thought it referred to supporting only 32-bit applications running on a 64-bit O/S. For those of us who've never heard of a "32-bit cable" before, that description could use a little enhancement. ("32-bit O/S" would do it)
Two stars for working like a charm on my 8 year old Toshiba laptop running XP SP3 connecting my ancient Casio CZ-1000. If you've got a 32-bit O/S, it's worth the price.
Unfortunately I bought it to use with a new Win 7 64-bit box and all I get is a solid red LED. Windows sees the device but no I/O possible.
Oh well.
GREAT MIDI CABLE GREAT PRICE July 19, 2010 Anthony Kelly (usa) HI IM A DJ/PRODUCER AND IM ALWAYS LOOKING FOR CABLE AND WHAT NOT I FOUND THIS CABLE ON AMAZON FOR LIKE 3 BUCKS I REALY DIDNT BELIEVE IT WOULD WORK BUT FOR THE PRICE ID TRY IT I ORDERED IT IT CAME IN TWO DAYS AND IT IS A PERFECT MIDI LINK FOR MY KEYBOARD TO MY PC NO LAG AND SHOWS IN AND OUT PERFECT FOR WHAT I WANTED IT FOR
I can't believe it works! July 16, 2010 wmwilde I had recently bought a midi sport uno for forty dollars and had no luck with it. It didn't work with my new yamaha keyboard or my friend's old casio. I was very disappointed. I figured that I would purchase this cable because it had good reviews, and it was so inexpensive. I recieved it in three days, and it worked instantly! Not only that, I am amazed at how well it works. This cable is definately worth a shot! I would suggest that anyone interested in buying a usb midi cable to try this one and see if it suits your needs before spending big bucks on any others.
