A great cardio workout September 6, 2010 Boxing is Fun !!! So many are complaining that this is not a cardio workout. After a prepared workout by the game I am sweating and exhausted. I feel like I have run a mile. The game is very easy to use with your trainer leading you along the way. You get to pick the type of music you want to work out to and they all have a great beat. Along with eating better I have lost almost 10 pounds using this workout. It is fun and challenging. I do wish they had more exercises to go along with the boxing part but that is where you need to be creative as a person. I have a workout ball that I do situps on between each boxing session. The ducking and weaving really gives your hamstrings a workout. There are some days after doing a boxing workout that I can barely walk because of all the ducking and weaving. Sure beats just doing squats alone. After using this workout I really would like to get in a boxing gym and try sparing with a real partner.
I have several other WII workout games and after starting this one I have not gone back. It is fun and gets results.
BORING September 6, 2010 Alanna Simone (RI) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
THIS IS JUST BOXING AND IT'S NOT EVEN ACCURATE. WHEN DOING THE UPPER PUNCHES CORRECTLY YOU ALWAYS MISS THE TARGET. THE ONLY WAY TO REALLY GET IT IS TO JUST PLAY IT LIKE IT'S A GAME AND NOT USE CORRECT MOVEMENTS. IT ISNT MUCH FUN AND DOESNT HAEVE YOU JUMP AROUND MUCH JUST PUNCH DUMB TARGETS LIKE A DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION GAME.
Glad I found it! September 6, 2010 Dee Dee (Maryland) I got the Wii/Wii Fit bundle in May and have been on a mission to find workouts that would help me to lose weight, but wouldn't be too taxing on my knees. I absolutely LOVE Rhythmn Boxing on Wii Fit and set out to find other boxing workouts. I found this offering from Gold's Gym and, after reading the reviews here (you guys are awesome!), I decided to give this a try. I absolutely love it! I got this 2 weeks ago and try to do the workouts 3 days a week(I do either the Wii Fit, Walk It Out or one of the Leslie Sansone DVDs on the other 2 days); my goal is to exercise an hour a day and let me tell you, on the days that I use this, I am drenched and exhausted when I'm done! And usually very sore the following day. But I love it. I feel like I'm working out every part of my body and that works for me.
The only thing that I haven't loved so far is the Jump Rope exercise. I can't figure that thing out to save my life. If anybody has tips, please share!
If you've been on the fence about buying this, go ahead and take the plunge. You won't regret it!
Great cardio boxing workout! August 25, 2010 JGN (TX) When I first played this game, I was feeling neutral towards it because I was a little awkward learning the moves and getting the rhythm right. At that point it just wasn't fun, yet. After getting bored with my other Wii workouts and getting into a slump, I decided to give this another try. I am so glad that I did. After getting past the initial learning phase, this can be a full-blast, high-intensity workout without even knowing it. In order for the punches to register properly, you have to really give a good solid punch. This is great for blowing off some steam. After each of my workouts, I can tell it was good because my muscles are sufficiently fatigued and I'm feeling it the next day. I've never had so much fun working out so hard on a Wii game. It now gets 5-stars from me, it just took a little time.
Who knew I could box? August 23, 2010 P. Bye-Erts (NJ/USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
As an overweight, 42 year old woman, I bought this game with a mixture of curiosity and dread. Boy, am I glad that I did! This is seriously fun, and after 1 month, I am developing arm and other muscles that I only dreamed about. My only complaint is the muzak music which is randomly annoying. I turn the volume down and listen to my iPod instead :-)
The game begins with a complete review of all of the punches and necessary steps to safely throw them. Who knew that I have a devastating left hook, lol? You can either miss the punch, earn a Good score or an Excellent score. You can choose to make your own workout, or choose one already made up. As you build up points, you unlock new exercises and also earn money to spend on new outfits in the game shop. I could care less about the outfits, but enjoy the new exercises.
One thing that I never expected from this Wii game is how good it can feel to punch..... just imagine the jerk who bothered you at work that day and give him a firm right upper, lol.
This workout gets you moving, burns a decent amount of calories, and I feel better about myself knowing that I can beat up any other Mii out there :-)
