Awesome. Lives up to my hopes after the long years of waiting.... July 31, 2010 Michael S. Kohler (Fairfax Station, VA) If you liked Starcraft and don't have SC2 yet (and have a computer that can run other recent games) then stop reading this review and click the 1-Click already. I just finished the single player campaign and was thoroughly impressed. I don't plan on much (if any) multiplayer play but it still feels like money well spent to me.
Ignore all the 1-star whiners talking about it being "1/3 of a game" or lacking LAN support. This game is just as long as Starcraft 1 or Brood War. The missions are (mostly) Terran, but that just means we will eventually get 90 missions (30 Terran, 30 Zerg, 30 Protoss) instead of the original 30 (10 Terran, 10 Zerg, 10 Protoss). People who whine about that costing too much are pretty silly. That's a LOT of entertainment.... Sure, there's copy protection, but it's not exactly onerous. You have to register it online. Big deal (if you paid for it, that is...). Regardless, this first campaign did not disappoint... Can't wait for the next chapter, Heart of the Swarm.
Heck, SC2 was worth the money just to hear siege tanks do their thing again after all this time... :)
I think worth the money July 31, 2010 R. Qin I have no idea why so many people give 1 star. For me, this is a decent game, it maintains key elements from the previous generation while adds some new stuff. And it also runs very smooth even with all ultra high setting on my not-state-of-the-art computer.
I believe some missing features will be implemented by some upgrade.
Blizzard rapes me for my loyalty? July 31, 2010 BrooklynSpender 8 out of 11 found this review helpful
Blizzard, after all these years of buying, playing and encouraging others to buy and play your games, you decide to get to get greedy and cheap by removing LAN, chat, editor, and other options while at the same time only providing 1/3 of the game at a bloated price? Really? What do I look like? A masochistic?
Thank goodness I only bought one game. Since I can't return it, I'll give it away as a Birthday gift to a family member, but due to my disgust with Blizzard, I'll probably just download pirated, cracked versions for myself and others instead of buying it retail just to spite Blizzard! I'm not a kid anymore with low funds anymore and am perfectly financially able to purchase as many of these as I see fit. But, no, I will not contribute to blizzard's coffers.
Blizzard - screw you and your little dog too!
Starcraft 2 = Awesome July 31, 2010 Mason Kratz (Lemoore, CA USA) 2 out of 14 found this review helpful
This is not 1/3 of a game, and it is worth every penny of the $60 it cost. 20 hours of a sweet campaign and unlimited online multi-player. If the whole "no LAN" thing bothers you that much then just go and play SC1 on your e-machine and quit complaining and bringing down the ratings of a great game.
Fantastic Experience July 31, 2010 Bryan Q. Murphy (Charlotte, NC) 1 out of 12 found this review helpful
The single player campaign is a fantastic experience at over 20 hours. The cinematic's are of the usual high quality from Blizzard. The multiplayer is addictive, as much as the original Starcraft and all the Warcraft's if not more so. The new Bnet is a minor inconvenience that you will quickly forget about as you play the game. I have no idea why people continue to bad mouth good games over stupid things that don't effect game play at all. Much like the haters who dragged Spore down in the ratings we have seen a bum rush to ruin SC2's rating. It deserves a 5 out of 5, it's an instant classic and will be one of the most played games on the internet for a long time.
